Probate register for Skien 1666-1808
The protocols for Skien public registrar comprise for this period in addition to the town of Skien, also the places Porsgrunn, Brevik, Stathelle and Langesund. Porsgrunn consisted of Western Porsgrunn (in Solum) og Eastern Porsgrunn (in Eidanger). Porsgrunn became a separate town in 1807.

shoemakers' guild,
tailors' guild and

Gjerpen Bygdebok
For 10 years this guy has been working on a series of books which should eventually end up as Gjerpen Bygdebok. Now he has decided to give the whole thing away as a free resource on the net. You
will find his work here. Please support his work by supplying all the info you have about the people and farms that he will publish in the near future. The first farms are already here.


Skien Historical Society
Skien Historical Society have had their website since 1 January 2006 and several interesting sources have been presented. F.ex. The Telephone-Catalogue for Porsgrunn, Eidanger, Skien and Gjerpen for the year 1919, and the matricul for Skien for 1914. Totally 22 unique sources has been published. There are also a lot of pictures from the old Skien and also portraits of people from Skien.

Holla og Lundeslekt
Nils Buverud has done agreat job up in Holla parish with his enormous register of families from Holla and Lunde parishes. The site has a good search-possibility, so it is easy to find the person or farm you are looking for. For those of us with family from Holla and Lunde, this website is a "must".
