In 1661 the king appointed a commission, the Land Commission,
who should register all land-property in Norway and prepare a proposal for
a new matricul. However this last item was cancelled, and already in 1665
new matricul-commissions were appointed. The taxable capacity of each farm
should be evaluated as closely as possible. Due to this, information about
livestock, seedcorn and/or crop, partly also information about forest and
outlying field. Also the fixed matricul taxes were noted. (To some extent
this information is also found in 1661.) On this basis, a new matricul should
be built. The matricul was completed between 1665 and 1670, and remained
mainly unaltered until 1836.
