The Building tax, a tax to Akershus castle, collected at Østlandet (south-eastern part of Norway) and the county of Agder. The Building tax was imposed first time by open letter March 4, 1593, for three years. Since then the order was repeated several times (not during the years 1607 - 16), until the Building tax became annual from 1617. The Building tax was lifted in 1644, when "the large contribution-tax" came.
The Building tax was a tax on farm-classes, paid with 60 sk. by "full-farms", 30 sk. by "half-farms" and 1 ort by "ødegårder".
