Utreist med/Emigrated on: the "WINTERFLID" ariving in New York from Skien July 29, 1843.
Utreist til/Emigrated to: Wisconsin
Niels Christiansen Limie: He was born Nov 16, 1806 on the farm Hjellen by parents Christian Nielsen Limie and Margarethe Nielsdatter. They were married 1805. Niels is dead before 1845. According to the probate records dated July 1, 1845, when his father Christian Nielsen Limie was dead, the heirs presented a letter dated April 1845 in Wisconsin, North-America, where the deceased had had an emigrated son, Niels Christiansen, who was now dead. This son had left 40 dollars and 40 acres of land, and the heirs asked the probate-court to approach the Norwegian priest Clausen, who lived at the same place, and give him unrestricted authority to accept the money and send them to Norway. It seems nothing happened, and in a new meeting June 16, 1847, they again asked the court to approach priest Clausen or some other "reliable man in America" to settle this inheritance. In the next meeting Oct 17, 1848, the court had received a letter from priest Clausen. The letter was recited, and thereafter it was decided to authorize the wheelwright P. Jacobsen to renounce the inheritance after the brother Niels. This authority was to be sent through the Norwegian Government and the general-consul Løvenskiold in America. Whatever happened then, I don't know.
